Geography games to play in class
Revising the map with a paper test bores everyone. With Cartógrafo the whole class plays at once in a room: each student on their phone, tablet or computer, against the clock, with a leaderboard at the end.
Set it up in two minutes
Press "Create room", pick the map (US states or the countries of Europe, say) and put the link on the board. Students join from the browser, type a name and that's it: nothing to install and no accounts, for the teacher or the students.
A room holds up to 12 players. With a bigger class, play in pairs or in two rooms, or have everyone play the same game solo with a challenge link.
What you can revise
The countries of every continent with their capitals and flags, the 50 US states, the provinces of Canada, the states of Mexico and Brazil, the regions of France or Italy and more, plus a geography quiz on rivers, mountains, population and area.
Every game shuffles the order, so students learn the map, not a list. At the end the review shows which pieces were hardest, which are usually exactly the ones worth going over in class.
Why it works
A game takes a couple of minutes, fits at the start or end of a lesson and can be replayed. Each piece is worth up to 100 points for speed and accuracy, so even the bottom of the table wants a rematch.
No personal data needed: each student just types a name or a nickname.
